If you've lived in Dubai during the 2010s, you're likely familiar with The Stables. It's a go-to destination for a quintessential 'weekend night out.'
This British-themed gastropub, nestled on Sheikh Zayed Road, offers a wide range of entertainment, British cuisine, and themed nights. From ladies' nights to karaoke, pub quizzes, live music, and sports matches, there's something for everyone at this popular spot.
Recently, The Stables introduced a new menu, and we had the pleasure of trying it out. Here's what we recommend:
Starters Kick off your meal with a selection of light bites or salads. For starters, we recommend the Crispy Calamari, served with a fennel, apple, and celery salad, accompanied by Sicilian lemon mayo. Another must-try is the Triple Cooked Crispy Chicken Wings, marinated in spicy buttermilk and fried to crispy perfection. While they might increase your calorie count, they're worth it for a weekend treat.
You can also indulge in the Show Time Nachos, a favorite among regulars. These nachos are dressed in pico de gallo, sour cream, house cheese sauce, coriander, spring onions, pickled jalapeños, and parmesan cheese. For an extra Dh30, you can add chili or pulled BBQ chicken.
For salads, you can choose from the basic house salad or the classic Caesar salad.
Mains With an extensive menu, it's always safe to go with the tried and tested dishes. We opted for The Stables Mixed Grill, perfect for sharing. It features two marinated lamb chops (delicious), a 4oz wagyu rump steak, grilled chicken breast, slow-cooked beef tomato, grilled flat cap mushroom, and your choice of side and two sauces.
If you're craving something with a desi twist, try the Charred Grilled Butter Chicken Curry (our personal favorite). It pairs perfectly with butter naan and steamed rice.
The menu also includes a variety of burgers and pizzas, offering something for every palate.
Desserts Finish your meal with one of four sweet options: Peruvian Chocolate Brioche Bao, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Fire and Ice, or Dark Chocolate Cake. While all sound tempting, the Peruvian Chocolate Brioche Bao, stuffed with vanilla cream and finished with toasted pistachio, stands out as a top choice.
