Sometimes, all you need is a relaxing atmosphere, good company, and, of course, great food. This was exactly what I found when I visited the newly opened tapas bar and shisha lounge at Citimax Hotel Business Bay — Indi 16. On an evening when I was seeking comfort, this spot proved to be the perfect refuge, offering not only a laid-back vibe but a delightful dining experience as well.
A Relaxing Ambiance Perfect for Unwinding
From the moment I stepped into Indi 16, I knew it was the kind of place you visit to wind down after a hectic day. The space exudes a calming ambiance, with soft, dim lighting and a background of mellow music that slowly intensifies as the night goes on. It’s the kind of environment where you can truly relax and enjoy your meal without the distractions of the outside world.
I arrived with a friend, and the mood of the place immediately set the tone for a memorable evening. The restaurant's design encourages lingering conversations, making it an ideal spot for a casual dinner or a more intimate evening out.
The Menu: Simple, Yet Delicious
One of the first things that stood out to me was the menu’s simplicity. With a focused selection of tapas-style dishes, it didn’t overwhelm with choices, allowing me to appreciate the quality and creativity behind each dish. As someone who often struggles to decide between a myriad of options, this was a relief. The menu was divided into small and big plates, which made it easier for us to navigate the options while ensuring no food went to waste.
We kicked off our meal with tangy chicken tacos and xacuti chicken chops. Both dishes had distinctive flavors that set them apart. The tacos had a tangy, zesty kick, while the chicken chops offered a depth of flavor that was both satisfying and mild enough for those who don’t love too much heat. Each dish was executed with balance and finesse, showing that Indi 16 truly understands the art of flavor.
Next came the chicken espetada, which while being a standard offering, was still delicious. Perfectly grilled with a nice char, it was the kind of dish that anyone would enjoy.
Comfort Food with a Twist
For the main course, we opted for Indi 16's take on the classic butter chicken with mini nans. Having grown up in Delhi, I couldn’t resist trying this staple dish. It’s always interesting to see how restaurants put their own spin on something so beloved, and Indi 16 did not disappoint. The butter chicken was creamy, rich, and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice to make it comforting without being overwhelming.
Dessert: A Sweet Surprise
In keeping with my curiosity, I decided to skip ahead to dessert. I couldn’t help but wonder what creative twists Indi 16 had in store for our traditional favorites. I opted for the Rabri fondue and Indi 16-styled shrikhand. The shrikhand, delicately flavored with saffron, was a standout. Creamy, aromatic, and rich, it was the perfect way to round off the meal. The Rabri fondue, while delicious, was better suited to a summer evening thanks to its lighter, refreshing notes.
Final Thoughts: A Place for Good Food and Great Memories
Indi 16 manages to strike the perfect balance between offering delicious food and creating a memorable experience. The ambiance, the creative takes on traditional dishes, and the welcoming atmosphere make it a great choice for those seeking a relaxing night out. Whether you’re enjoying tapas with friends or indulging in comforting classics with a twist, this new tapas bar in Business Bay is sure to make your evening enjoyable.
Far from the hustle and bustle of Dubai’s busy streets, Indi 16 is the ideal spot to slow down, savor your food, and enjoy good conversation. With a variety of delectable dishes and a vibe that promotes relaxation, it's definitely a restaurant you should check out when you're in the mood for great food and an even better time.
