Partnering with Facebook and Carrefour, UAE Food Bank distributes 55,000 lunches.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives' UAE Food Bank worked with Meta's Facebook platform to provide blue-collar employees in Dubai's Al Quoz neighborhood with about 720 food baskets, or 55,000 meals. The food baskets were kindly donated by Carrefour, a company that Majid Al Futtaim represents.

The UAE Food Bank's aim is to promote social responsibility among its partners and the community while fulfilling its objectives of managing excess food, reducing waste, and delivering food to those in need, both within and beyond the UAE. This program was in line with that mission. The program also aims to raise public awareness of the Food Bank's charity and humanitarian endeavors.

The UAE Food Bank's efforts, according to Dawoud Al Hajri, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees, "reflect the generosity of the people of the UAE, embodying the principles of kindness, magnanimity, compassion, and solidarity in society." The importance of feeding the needy during the holy month of Ramadan was further emphasized by this campaign.

"The Bank strives to collaborate with partners from diverse entities and organizations to enhance humanitarian, charitable, and volunteer efforts while also seeking to provide food to a significant number of beneficiaries, both locally and internationally," Al Hajri said. This is achieved through securely preparing for and managing food excess, minimizing waste, and cultivating an environment and food supply that are abundant and sustainable.

Majid Al Futtaim Retail's Sheila Chaiban, Chief Marketing Officer, expressed her delight in working closely with the UAE Food Bank and Meta to carry out this humanitarian endeavor. "The program is consistent with Carrefour's principles and its steadfast dedication to serving the community and fostering camaraderie among its members. That our activity during the holy month provided joy to the worthy is something we are pleased about.

The significance of engagement, altruism, and community peace was emphasized by Moon Baz, Creator Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey at Meta. "As part of Meta's "Ramadan Al Khair" campaign this year, we want to expand the options for doing good actions and honoring the spirit of the month. The collaboration with the UAE Food Bank strengthens our dedication to helping those in need and providing them with aid in the form of material and in-kind contributions so that everyone in the community may fully appreciate this fortunate month.

A total of 420 food baskets, each containing a range of goods, were also delivered straight to the residences of the blue-collar employees, while another 300 food baskets were brought to the UAE Food Bank's main office for distribution to them. Throughout the month of Ramadan, the UAE Food Bank has launched a number of projects to reduce food waste, promote effective management of excess food, and offer wholesome meals to those in need. The goal of these initiatives is to increase public awareness of the value of reducing excess and attaining zero food waste.

The UAE Food Bank collaborates with food producers, kitchens, eateries, and lodging facilities to deliver meals every day via Iftar tents. These actions include the delivery of three million meals for the needy in collaboration with hotels, tents for Iftar, and the UAE Red Crescent. The Bank has started the "Your Harees on Us" program, which aims to gather customary Harees contributions from big kitchens and give them out to people in need during Ramadan.
