This dazzling display is the brainchild of Tim Wilson, the owner-operator of New World Stonefields. Inspired by a trip abroad where he saw Christmas lights decorating every street corner, Tim was determined to bring that same enchanting holiday atmosphere back home. He had the giant candy canes custom-built in China, but with shipping delays threatening to derail his plans, Tim called in help from local fabricators, electricians, and sign installers to ensure the decorations went up just in time.

“We aimed for a November launch, but delays meant calling in a few favours to make it happen. Everyone pitched in – it was a real team effort,” says Tim. “Creating Christmas magic is part of being a grocer, and seeing the community’s reaction makes it all worthwhile.”

A Transformed New World Stonefields

Since taking over New World Stonefields earlier this year, Tim has been on a mission to enhance the store and bring something special to the Stonefields community. Beyond the stunning Christmas lights, Tim has introduced a range of new offerings, including a boutique florist, a revamped produce department, polished floors, and a delicious new selection of in-store doughnuts with exciting flavours like Biscoff and Oreo.

A seasoned supermarket operator, Tim previously ran New World Pukekohe and began his career at Four Square Matakana. His passion for food and connecting with people shines through in everything he does. “I love being around people and have a vision for the store that balances community focus with great service,” he says.
