Boosting Efficiency in Fresh Fruit Packaging with Ishida Weighing Technology

Ishida weighing technology has revolutionized the fresh produce industry, empowering French fresh produce specialist Voie Verte to expand its range of fresh-cut fruits and fruit salads. This innovative technology has not only met but exceeded the increasing demand for high-quality, pre-prepared fruit products.

Located in the Lyon region, Voie Verte has been a pioneer in the produce industry since 1972. In 2012, the company ventured into fresh-cut operations, marking a significant milestone in its journey. The success of this venture led to the establishment of a state-of-the-art 5,100m2 plant in Les Echets in 2017, complete with a dedicated area for fresh-cut products.

At the heart of Voie Verte's production efficiency are three Ishida Fresh Food Weighers (FFW). These weighers were specially designed to handle delicate and hard-to-handle fresh fruits with precision and accuracy, ensuring minimal product giveaway while maintaining product quality.

The ergonomic design of the FFW allows for easy handling and precise weighing of each portion of fruit. The distribution system and belt feeders ensure a consistent product feed to the weigh hoppers, maximizing speed and efficiency in the weighing process. Additionally, features like scraper hopper gates and ribbed surfaces minimize product sticking, further enhancing the overall efficiency of the operation.

One of the key advantages of the Ishida weighers is their ability to accommodate quick recipe changes, making them ideal for short production cycles. The intuitive remote-control unit on each machine allows for seamless adjustments, enabling Voie Verte to maintain flexibility and agility in its production processes.

Despite their capability for higher speeds, the weighers at Voie Verte are currently operating at a lower speed to ensure a smooth and consistent operation across the production line. This strategic approach reflects Voie Verte's commitment to quality and reliability in every aspect of its operations.

José Carrion, Voie Verte's Industrial Director, expressed confidence in Ishida's technology, highlighting its accuracy and reliability as key factors in supporting the company's growth and adaptation to market trends.

In conclusion, Ishida weighing technology has been instrumental in enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and quality in fresh fruit packaging, making it a valuable asset for Voie Verte and a game-changer in the fresh produce industry.
