DUBAI, Emirates Arabes Unis - Beyoncé is once again creating waves, this time in Atlantis of Dubai.
Atlantis The Royal Dubai, a new hotel in the Middle Eastern metropolis, was opened to a VIP audience on Saturday evening with a performance staged by Knowles-Carter herself. The program began with the 1960s famous love ballad "At Last," originally performed by Etta James.
This was her first live performance in four years, with celebs like Chloe and Halle Bailey, Nia Long, and Kendall Jenner in attendance, according to Variety.
Blue Ivy, Beyoncé's eldest child, sang briefly with her mother during her song "Brown Skin Girl" on "The Gift," a soundtrack album for Disney-affiliated films Black Is King and the 2019 live-action "The Lion King," in which she voices the character Nala.
She played favorites including "Crazy In Love" and "Beautiful Liar," in which she paid tribute to the MENA culture by sampling a song by the late Algerian singer Warda El-Djazairia.
Songs from her most recent studio album, "act of RENAISSANCE," which was published in July 2022 and is the first installment in a three-album series, were conspicuously absent.
This is not the first time the artist has performed in Dubai. Beyoncé embarked on a global tour in 2005 with her former group Destiny's Child with former bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
The event ended dramatically with the song "Drunk in Love," with the performer soaring several feet on a stage while pyrotechnics exploded behind her.
